Epicore Biosystems

A closer look at what your sweat can tell you.

Epicore Biosystems develops wearable sensors that pair sweat measurements with software to help people understand their hydration needs. Its work spans industrial safety, sports and clinical research.

For our energy community, Connected Hydration is the place to start: a wearable system designed to bring individual hydration feedback into the working day.

Industrial safety

Meet Connected Hydration.

Epicore describes a system that combines a wearable, a worker app and a cloud dashboard. Each part serves a different purpose.

01 / Wearable

Measure through the shift.

The sensor tracks sweat and electrolyte losses alongside skin temperature and movement. The armband gives vibration alerts, including when a phone is not nearby.

02 / Worker app

Make the feedback personal.

The app provides fluid and electrolyte guidance and a history of the wearer’s data. Epicore describes Bluetooth synchronization with cloud transfer when a connection is available.

03 / Team insights

Look for patterns.

Aggregated reporting helps safety teams review hydration trends. Epicore states that workers control sharing and employers receive anonymized analytics.

Built around an actual working day.

Epicore’s current armband brochure lists a reusable, washable band and a removable electronic module, with up to 16 hours of logging between synchronizations. The brochure specifies Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D, T6 for the electronic module. Confirm the exact product and approval documentation with Epicore for your location.

For our energy community

A useful conversation for safety and operations.

Consider the people, tasks and conditions where individual hydration information could add context to your existing program.

Field crews and service companies

Drilling, completions, production and maintenance teams can use a demo to explore how the device fits alongside required PPE, shift routines and remote work.

Facilities and industrial work

Refinery, plant, construction and utility teams can ask how group trends might support a review of cooling arrangements, break areas and the work environment.

HSE and workforce leaders

Evaluate worker participation, privacy, training and the response to alerts together. The value of any pilot depends on what your people can do with the information.

These are suggested evaluation settings for our community. Specific suitability and outcomes depend on your operation and should be discussed with Epicore.

Beyond industrial work

One company. Several uses for sweat science.

Epicore is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its team brings together expertise in wearable technology, biomedical engineering and data science.

Gx Sweat Patch

Developed through Epicore’s partnership with Gatorade and PepsiCo, the Gx Sweat Patch is aimed at sports and fitness. A skin patch collects sweat during exercise; the associated app uses sweat profiles to help personalize hydration planning across workouts and conditions.

This is a separate offering from the Connected Hydration industrial system.

Discovery Patch

The Discovery Patch Sweat Collection System supports research by collecting sweat on the skin for transfer to sample vials and laboratory analysis. Its purpose is to help researchers study sweat biomarkers, rather than provide the same immediate worker feedback as Connected Hydration.

Epicore’s broader research interests include hydration, nutrition, stress and other areas of metabolic health.

Make the introduction count

What to bring to a demo.

A focused conversation will help you decide whether the technology fits your people and your work.

Start with a specific crew.

Bring the tasks, shift lengths, work environment and existing heat program to the conversation. Ask what a practical pilot would measure and how you would review the results.

Check the operating environment.

Confirm the exact device configuration, hazardous location documentation, PPE compatibility and site approval before choosing equipment for a classified area.

Plan the daily routine.

Discuss fit, cleaning, consumables, battery replacement, phone restrictions, synchronization and training. A useful pilot needs a routine the crew can follow.

Agree on data and success measures.

Ask who can see individual information, how group reporting works, and how participation and data sharing are handled. Define the pilot scope, support and current pricing with Epicore.

Keep the role of the technology clear.

Connected Hydration provides hydration information; Epicore does not present it as a device for diagnosing or treating medical conditions. Wearable feedback supports an established heat safety program and does not replace the controls, training or response procedures your workplace requires.
